Telecom students competed at the SkillsUSA District 4 Leadership and Skills Conference on March 12 at Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa.

District 4 includes Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, Gloucester, Poquoson, Williamsburg and the Eastern Shore.

Eight students competed at the conference, in categories like Quiz Bowl, Job Skill Demonstration, Job Interview, Spelling, and Current Events.

Demitre Waddell, a senior at Heritage High, took first place in Job Interview. Regenia Parker-Watkins, a senior at Woodside High, got second in Bulletin Board. And the Quiz Bowl team placed second in their competition.

Telecom Instructor Carl Daniels escorted them to the competition, which was rescheduled twice because of snow.
