The Telecom student team went live with the high school basketball games held on January 27, Denbigh at Warwick. The games (girls and boys) were aired live on NNPS-TV Cox Channel 47/FiOS Channel 17 and also via the web on the students' YouTube channel, NNPS Telecom Network. Additionally, the live games could be seen via the webcast on nnpstv.com and on the NNPS-TV Roku channel.
The games will be re-broadcast during February on NNPS-TV.
Messages from around the country were received from viewers watching live on YouTube. Out-of-town family members were happy to be able to watch their athletes live on the web.
The Telecom crew worked in the gym and in the remote video production truck. Four cameras were used in the student production. Students operated the cameras and also were Technical Director, GG/Graphics Operator, Instant Replay/Slo-Mo Operator, and Audio Operator.
NNPS-TV staff working the production included Telecom Supervisor Ray Price (Producer), Instructor Carl Daniels, Jr. (Instructor/Production Assistant), Bill Barlow (Director), Greg Lesko (Engineer), Greg Bicouvaris (Announcer), and Nate Milton (Announcer).
Students taking part in the production were: José Solivan, Gabe Odachowski, Deon Davis, Summer Eley, Cheyanne Brooks, Muriel Gamble, Eleanor Stuck, Darin Cooper, and Mary Wright. Telecom graduates Dwayne Peterson and Lawrenzo Green were part of the crew as well.
Odachowski, who served as Technical Director and Assistant Engineer, also ran the live stream.
Twelve different high school sports have been produced for television by NNPS-TV: football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, wrestling, tennis, track & field, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, and lacrosse.
