Students work on fitness show during training

Telecom Supervisor Ray Price, right, advises students during the "Fuzion Fitness" shoot at City Center.

Telecom students got some hands-on experience before classes started, running the cameras and using the remote production truck to help record "Fuzion Fitness with Alexis" on location at City Center.

The shoot was included as part of Remote Video Production Training, which was held the week before school starts. It prepares students to work on live broadcasts of high-school football games and other remote productions.

"Fuzion Fitness" is a 30-minute exercise show hosted by fitness instructor and Telecom graduate Alexis Perkins. It is co-produced by Perkins and Telecom Supervisor Ray Price, who helped create the show and who also directs it.

Watch the show

"Fuzion Fitness" airs on NNPS-TV Cox 47/FiOS 17 at 6:30 a.m. daily, plus Mondays at 7:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. It can also be seen online via nnpstv.com's webcast at those times. Shows are available on demand as well.

The show features local fitness team members and music by local artists. It has been on the air since the end of 2010, and student workers serve as part of the production team.

Students attending Remote Video Production Training are first-year TV Production I students and second-year TV Production II students who are interested in working on various shoots during the school year, including "Fuzion Fitness," which is produced each month.

Along with Price, Telecom Instructor Carl Daniels, Jr. and NNPS-TV Station Engineer Bryan Catlin provided instruction to the 17 students who attended the shoot.
