About Us

NNPS-TV provides college-level video and television instruction to juniors and seniors from each of the six high schools in the division. Students attending this program are prepared for careers in television and journalism and for further studies in higher education. More info. about the program

NNPS-TV is also where viewers throughout Newport News can watch local and national programs on Cox Cable (Ch47) and Verizon FiOS (Ch17). Student shows, as well as professionally produced features, inform the community about events, programs, and accomplishments of Newport News. Additional programming highlights a variety of topics including mathematics, language arts, history, and science. During our regularly scheduled programs, the NNPS-TV Bulletin Board airs school and community announcements.

In addition, NNPS-TV is the center for the school division’s closed-circuit system called MetroNet, which provides schools with a variety of instructional programming and staff development. Also through MetroNet, Teacher's Choice allows teachers to request instructional programming to be played into their classrooms at specific times.

NNPS-TV also provides support for teachers, staff, and administrators throughout the school division by preparing videos for national conferences and by training teachers and staff members how to videotape school events and classroom instruction for use in evaluation and certification.
