'Salute to Success' now airing, more awards shows coming

Salute to Success logoNNPS-TV Cox 47/FiOS 17 will air the 2017 "Salute to Success" awards show throughout the month of June. "Salute to Success" honors academic achievement by students in Newport News Public Schools. Read more.

2017 graduation: Live stream, TV & online broadcast schedule

NNPS-TV will video-record the graduation ceremonies for replay on NNPS-TV Cox 47/FiOS 17. Find out the different ways you can see the ceremonies.

Don't forget that DVDs of the ceremony can be ordered for $20. After June, the price goes up, so order now!

Summer hours

NNPS-TV/Telecom will be operating on summer hours starting the week of June 19. NNPS school and administration buildings will be closed on Fridays during the summer. The first closure is Friday, June 23. The last Friday closure will be the week of August 14 (closed on Friday, August 18). Please keep this in mind if you are stopping by to purchase a graduation DVD!

Student News

Telecom logoTelecom students are busy this time of year, video-recording end-of-the-year awards ceremonies and the high school graduations. They are also putting the final touches on their TV class projects. TV-I students are finishing up editing their short movie and music video projects. TV-II students are wrapping up editing their second TV Directing show. They are also working on their "résumé reels," which every student in TV-II must complete by graduation.

The students will begin recording high school graduations this week starting with Achievable Dream on Thursday and ending with Woodside on Sunday.

The following Telecom students will be graduating: Eleanor Stuck, Muriel Gamble, Deon Davis, Courtney Luther, Cheyanne Brooks, Mary Wright, Jalyn Banks, Cameron Dorsey, and Naya Latimore (TV I). Congratulations to all!

What's showing

graduates"World Destination,  "Music Maestro,"  "Biz Kids," and "100 Years, 100 Events" are some of the educational programs featured on NNPS-TV this month. More importantly, however, the high school graduations will be recorded soon and TV broadcasts will start at the end of the month.

Scorpio Brown, Assistant Football Coach at Warwick HighThe June 2017 episode of "Sports Highlights" features Scorpio Brown, Assistant Football Coach at Warwick High School and Tregg Hartley, Peninsula Bicycling Association President. Watch the show on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/FiOS 17) on Mondays at 7 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., and weekends at 9 a.m. Online, visit or tune to the NNPS-TV Roku channel during the TV broadcast to see it on the live webstream. The NNPS-TV Video site is another way to watch.

The next School Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. It will be broadcast live on NNPS-TV (Cox Channel 47/Verizon FiOS Channel 17) and re-played at later dates. School Board meetings can also be seen on the live web stream online, or on the NNPS-TV Roku channel during the live TV broadcast and the re-plays.
