30 years of TV at NNPS: Programming
When Newport News Public Schools first acquired a local cable television station and started broadcasting in 1987, it was on Channel 36 on Newport News Cablevision, and the offering was a community bulletin board. The bulletin board showed informational screens from the school division's Public Information department. Read more.
NNPS-TV hosts McIntosh students
NNPS-TV recently hosted students from McIntosh Elementary School. The students are part of their school's TV broadcast club, which produces the Morning Show each day. NNPS-TV's production team provided them with a tour of the station and hands-on learning in the studio, the editing bay, and outdoors flying the drone. Read more.
NNPS-TV makes new Design Challenge intro video
The NNPS-TV production team completed another Elementary Engineering Design Challenge intro video, which was part of the EDC held at the end of March. The Engineering Design Challenge is a day-long STEM exercise held four times a year. Four-person teams from each NNPS elementary school compete in the challenge. Read more.
2017 graduation TV & online broadcast schedule
Get the schedule for the NNPS high school graduations coming up this spring! NNPS-TV will video-record the commencement ceremonies for replay on NNPS-TV Cox 47/FiOS 17. Find out the different ways you can see the ceremonies. Stay tuned to see if a live broadcast or webcast will be available. Don't forget that DVDs of the ceremony can be ordered for $20.
TV-I students are completing packages to be used in their news magazine shows. They are working on a short movie, too. Four of the TV-I students will be working on NASA SME2 videos to be completed for their e-Clips series.
The TV-II classes finished producing and directing their first show and will begin working on their second show. Soon the TV-II students will start putting together their "résumé reels," which they can take with them to apply for a job or an internship, or use for networking.
Lateef Gibson, Telecom alumnus and videographer at Norfolk State University, spoke with Telecom students about preparing for the real world and working in the media industry. Students had the opportunity to ask him questions and network with him about future projects.

April showers bring May flowers...and April also brings these great shows on NNPS-TV: "Out of the Past" shows how archaeologists and anthropologists connect past civilizations and modern societies, and "The Forests" explores the tension between the environment and man. "My Blog," a show for middle school kids, continues this month, as well as "Barney’s Barrier Reef," a fun and educational adventure under the sea.
The April episode of "Sports Highlights" features Jaime Cox, Volunteer Coordinator for the Peninsula Track Club and Kraig Cole, Vice Chairman of the Hampton Cup Racing Club, which presents the Hampton Cup Regatta. Watch the show on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/FiOS 17) on Mondays at 7 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., and weekends at 9 a.m. Online, visit www.nnpstv.com/webstream or the NNPS-TV Roku channel during the TV broadcast to see it on the live webstream. The NNPS-TV Video site is another way to watch.

You can watch Fuzion on NNPS-TV Cox 47/FiOS 17 at 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. daily. The next School Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. It will be broadcast live on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/FiOS 17). School Board meetings can also be seen on the live web stream online or on the NNPS-TV Roku channel during the live TV broadcast and the re-plays.
