NNPS-TV speaks to Woodside media class

NNPS-TV Station Manager Jim Anklam and Producer Nik Long recently spent some time talking to students in a 9th-grade Video and Media Production class. The pair went to Woodside High School November 20 to share their expertise with the students.


Telecom students to create VSBA promo

Telecom students worked on site at the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention, which was held in Williamsburg November 14-16.


NNPS-TV covers State of the Schools address

Dr. George ParkerOn Thursday, November 29, the NNPS-TV production team video-recorded the Superintendent’s State of the Schools address, "Building Successful Futures Together." The event was held at the David Student Union Ballroom on the campus of Christopher Newport University.

 

Telecom supervisor assists robotics club

Telecom Supervisor Ray Price helped Menchville's Robotics team, Triple Helix 2363, video-record interviews of students, mentors, and alumni for their 2019 Chairman’s Award video.

Telecom students shoot lip sync video at Enterprise Academy

A small crew of talented Telecom students recently shot a lip sync video involving students, teachers, and staff at Enterprise Academy. R&B singer Coko from SWV (Sisters With Voices) joined in, too. Read more in an upcoming newsletter!

Telecom logoTV-I students are completing work on their commercials. Next up, they will tackle creating PSAs, which should be finished before the winter holidays.  They are also serving as the crew for the TV shows that they may produce and direct in the future.

TV-II students are completing work on their NASA projects.  These projects will be sent to NASA science experts for feedback.  After that, the students will begin producing and editing their own packages that will be used in a show at a later date.  Also, the students can compete in a SkillsUSA CareerSafe Video Contest if they choose.

What's showing

Throughout December and all day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, NNPS-TV airs "Holiday Classics" — oldies-but-goodies like "Miracle on 34th Street," Jack Benny Christmas and New Year's Eve specials, and a number of The Beverly Hillbillies' Christmas shows, too. And be on the lookout for NNPS Winter Music Specials from days gone by and some excellent holiday flash mob performances.

Regular programming in December and January includes two new shows: "Shedding Light on Motion" and "Extreme Lands." Also featured are "Prime Radicals" and "My Blog."

Also, you can catch a couple football games from the fall season on NNPS-TV. They will be shown at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Check the Program Guide for dates and times — search for "football."

field hockey playersThe December episode of "Sports Highlights," features Menchville High School standout field hockey players Morgan Merritt, Lauren Satchell, and Julia Cook; Woodside High School Head Boys' Volleyball Coach Dorien Hart; and J-Stock Hydro Racer Johnny Orlando. The show airs on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/Verizon FiOS 17) on Mondays at 7 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., and weekends at 9 a.m. Visit www.nnpstv.com/webstream during the TV broadcast to watch it online. You can also go to the NNPS-TV Roku or Apple TV channel, or the NNPS-TV Video site, to watch it on the live stream during the broadcast. For "on demand," go to the above YouTube link, the NNPS-TV Video site, or the NNPS-TV Roku or Apple TV channel.

The next School Board Meeting will be on Tuesday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m.  It will be broadcast live on NNPS-TV (Cox 47/Verizon 17 ), and it will be re-played at later dates. School Board meetings can also be seen on the live web stream of the channel during the live broadcast or the replays. Our NNPS-TV Roku and Apple TV channels also have a live stream you can watch during the TV broadcasts, or you can find the meetings on demand there or on YouTube, afterward.
