This year's NNPS high school football season – the 30th year of broadcasting by NNPS-TV – was definitely one like no other.

NNPS-TV worked with NNPS’s Family and Community Engagement team again this spring to bring new educational programming to area students and citizens, this time a children's series specifically relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NNPS high school graduation ceremonies will be held June 7-11 at Todd Stadium. They will be broadcast live on NNPS-TV, which can be seen on Cox 47/Verizon Fios 17, Roku and Apple TV, and online at nnpstv.com or on the NNPS-TV app.

Upgrades 2.0 - Watch in HD on YouTube

NNPS-TV producers continue to use their new editing software. New videos, like the most recent episodes of "This Just In", are now available in HD on YouTube and on the NNPS-TV Video site. Previous shows play back at 720p as the highest quality, so the 1080p of HD is a big improvement. All videos have been recorded in HD for years, but playback does not always match up. The new software also converts video to the proper format in mere minutes, so that helps streamline the production work flow.

Student news

Telecom students in TV- I are starting work on commercials.  Each student chooses a product that they want to advertise and produces a commercial for it.

The TV- II students are working on directing their second show, which earns them college credits from Norfolk State University. Due to social distancing, they will record B-roll footage and edit it together to form a TV show.

Some of the student videos from last month's "Pandemic project," about the pandemic and its effect on schools in Newport News Public Schools, are available on the Telecom student YouTube channel.
